A little bit of history and scienceThe fourth day here in Kaunas was very exciting. First we went to see the annual exhibition-competition of young scientists “KTU Technorama – 2012”. There were a lot of interesting inventions, flying machines, strange luminous creatures and so on. Everybody was watching them and admiring each of them. Then we went to visit to The Ninth fort of Kaunas built in 1924 and we learned a lot about the history of Lithuania during the Soviet occupation and Nazi occupation. |
The cell underneath the stairs One of the most interesting things I saw in the 9th Fort were different types of cells in which people have been humiliated. Depending on the punishment, cells were designed not only to cause pain and starvation but also had a psychological context. The cell underneath the stairs which amazed me was designed to deprive a person of sleep by making noise when walking up and down the stairs.

Some of us got struck by lightning’, as what appeared to be a crystal ball was actually a ball loaded with energy ready to come out through the touch of people…
After sitting around in the sunshine, the sunshine made place for the dark atmosphere of the Ninth Fort. With various questions asked, for example how genocide affects entrepreneurship in Lithuania, we were encouraged to look at genocide and its influence from a different angle.
